Somthing Beautiful

This morning began like any other work day morning. Struggle to get ready by 7, fight grumpy WeeMan into his clothes, quick breakfast – “No don’t feed the pancakes to the dog, WeeMan!”, out the door and into the carseat, “Mommy doesn’t make the laws but you have to be buckled in for safety, WeeMan – so stop fighting mommy”, Back out of the garage, wait on the bus, hurry down the road. At the stop sign I looked into the rearview mirror and smiled. The radio was on, but I wasn’t really hearing it I was so busy planning my day and thinking of all the things that had to be done. When I looked in the mirror – there was my mohawked WeeMan – grinning and dancing away to the music. We sat at that stop sign a little extra longer and mommy danced too.

Here are the lyrics to the chorus of the song that was playing. It’s called “Something Beautiful” by the NewsBoys and it seemed completely perfect for the moment this morning.

It’s a voice that whispers my name
It’s a kiss without any shame
Something beautiful
Like a song that stirs in my head
Singing love will take us where
Something’s beautiful

It’s the child on her wedding day
It’s the daddy that gives her away–Father
Something beautiful
When we laugh so hard we cry
It’s the love between you and I
Something beautiful

How completely appropriate and what a perfect reminder from my Heavenly Father via my WeeMan not to get so caught up in the daily grind that we miss the beautiful moments.

When was the last time you had a reminder like that?

  1. What a terrific song and thought. I think I had a thought like that this past week sitting with Baby Girl. Kids are such a gift!(love the picture in your header too!)

  2. That is why I love listening to Christian music on the radio! I get a line or a song stuck in my head for the entire day…sometimes for days! And I know there's always a reason for that. Hey – Have a great week!!! 🙂
